NICOLE CORBETT

Nicole Corbett is a multidisciplinary artist, creative director, and entrepreneur from Los Angeles, CA.

In 2007, she moved to South Korea on a Defense Department scholarship to study Korean for US national security. She was on track to pursue a career in diplomacy when she was introduced to Zen Buddhism. Her encounter with the dharma marked a turning point and influenced her decision to pursue a life of creativity instead.

Her first love was photography. In 2009 she founded the photography and art zine Worn Magazine based in Washington, DC. She later turned the publication into a feminist, NY-based creative agency also called Worn and ran it from 2013-2019.

Nicole’s art is deeply rooted in her practice of Zen. Her work encompasses ceramic sculpture, performance, photography, and video, and explores themes of surrender and control, emotional freedom, spiritual experiences accessed through the body and mind, sexuality and feminism. Her current body of work focuses on hand-built ceramic moon jars that act as a canvas for abstract mark making using her hair.

Nicole currently lives and works in East Hampton, NY. When she’s not in her studio, she’s happiest around animals - riding horses or with her two dogs exploring the beach.
